In the early 21st century Billy Beane devised a new way for building a winning baseball team, this method he used was one of the reasons the Oakland A’s of the early 2000’s were so successful. As I read the article entitled Money Ball I noticed it connected with the ideas that I read about the Black Socks Scandal of 1919. On the most basic level both articles talked about the sport of baseball. Money Ball talks about the general manager of the Oakland A’s Billy Beane and his methods for putting together a winning team. His ideas on building a team were much different from the rest of the league. He analyzed numbers and put money value on every player in the A’s system and the players he was interested in. This analytical process enabled Billy Beane to build a team that would become very sucessful while keeping the A’s payroll very low. Although these methods proved very effective Billy Beane he did acquire enemies because of the way he did things. Even though he made enemies with his deals his ideas have now become commonplace among baseball clubs. His ideology on building a team showed me another connection with the article on the Black Socks Scandal. This relation was money in baseball and the important role it plays.

After reading your first paragraph I believe it is about the comparisons between Billy Bean from the Oakland A's and the Black Sox Scandal. It’s about the role money plays in baseball and how it is an important characteristic of the sport. I think you took each topic Billy Bean and the Black Sox’ and showed how money plays a role in each subject.
